The Garand was a present to Don, not actually the one he had while serving in the ETO. Don was thrilled with his present and was very proud of it. I just love the photo with he and the Garand. He's beaming isn't he? 
Oh on a silly note... I take it everyone noticed my NEW HAIRDO?!?! I haven't mentioned it to anyone, but decided a few months ago to go au natural! I started going silver in high school and when Lee and I were married when I was 27, I already had a lot of STREAKS. His nickname for me was Silver Girl. Well, like many women, started coloring my hair, and Lee has been trying to talk me into going natural for a long time. Well, in late winter I woke up one day, looked in the mirror and loudly exclaimed, "Screw it!" That was it. I wasn't going to do it anymore and thus, the NEW me.
I wore a hat the first three weeks because it looked like I just FORGOT to touch up my color. Then I got brave, put the hack back on the rack and opened the store in the morning. I couldn't believe how many people loved it, including many of the young kids. I had several 18 year-olds ask me where I got my hair done? It was amazing. Well now I am very comfortable with it and it's kind of fun. So here's to being me.
