  Footage from P-47's
Posted by: Walt's Daughter - 11-09-2006, 10:34 AM - Forum: Famous/not so famous Audio & Video Clips from the War - Replies (3)

Here's some footage that Papa Art sent to me. It's on Google!

I have to add a personal note here. Please forgive me in advance, but I can't stand when people add MIDI files to their sites and/or videos. I know some of you love music no matter what, but with no copyright issues on WWII era music anymore, I wish more would use the real thing. I just can't stand the "tinny" and thin sounds of MIDI. EWWWWW!

Sometimes people send me links with MIDI music, but I have to confess they get tossed. Give me real music anyday. Sorry for the tangent but...

I sent the following to this gentleman after I added his link this month, and sure enough I got this email this morning. For anyone who thinks THEY ARE OLD at 40, 50, 60... think again and thank God for your blessings. This man puts many a 30 year old to shame with his exuberance for life.

God bless you sir and keep you and thank you for writing.

Here's his website and here are our letters to each other.

A good friend of mine, James Hennessey of the 87th Infantry Division, sent me the link for your site, and I placed it on my site back in April of

2006. You can find your link on here:

I have just started going through your site and am so glad that you took the time to share all your very painful memories with us. People should know what happened there and they should never, never forget.

God bless you,

Marion J Chard Proud daughter of Walter (Monday) Poniedzialek

540th Combat Engineer WWII

Dear Marion,

So glad you saw my website. Also, glad you wrote. I am very busy with

speaking engagements, volunteering at the VA Medical Center and the like.

Can you send me your regular mailing address so I can send Christmas

cards? I was recently honored by the 171st Air Refueling Wing at the

Pittsburgh Airport, received the Bronze Medallion of the Chapel of the

Four Chaplains Award in Johnstown, PA, I spoke at several middle, High

Schools and universites as well as, Soldiers and Sailors Hall/Museum in

Pittsburgh,PA. I have over 18 years of volunteering time at the Butler VA

Medical Center helping our veterans. Not bad for 93, huh?

Thank you again for writing, I will write you more later, it's late and I

have work in the morning.

Best wishes,

Abie Abraham and Chris

Has anyone read this book? I can't figure out if it's fiction or nonfiction. The information on it is kinda vague. It looks like a great read and it was suggested on a forum somewhere a while back and I could never find it for sale anywhere until this evening apparently directly from the autor in Colorado??

Let me know what you think.

36th Engineer - Walter Bucci - passed away
Posted by: Walt's Daughter - 11-08-2006, 02:18 PM - Forum: Announcements, Get Well Wishes & Farewells - No Replies

Received the following from Captain John Fallon of the 36th Combat Engineers.

I am always sorry to hear of the loss of one of our great comrades. I will pass on the word and we will pray for him and toast his memory. I like to remind the survivors of my great fellow Seahorses that there is a special place reserved for valiant soldiers like Walter.

This was the email he received. God bless Walter and his family. A salute to another great Seahorse!

John,

We regret to inform the 36th Engineers that Walter Bucci passed away on August 6, 2006 due to complications from a broken hip. Joan, his daughter, and I, son-in-law, have been to a few of the reunions with Walter and we enjoyed then, and we know that Walter really enjoyed them. I hope you can continue to have them, even thought the original crew has been diminished greatly in numbers.

Our thanks for your excellent work,

Stay RUGGED!!!!

Bob and Joan Smith
