  91 year old WWII Veteran

This is just sickening. It was on the news last evening and I just about gagged on my dinner. What a piece of sh*t that would do this to and elderly man, let alone a veteran.

  Schindler's list
Posted by: sixgun - 05-15-2007, 02:25 PM - Forum: TV Shows, Film, Videos - Replies (5)

A moving movie, deeply moving which shows us all the horror of which the man can be able but fortunately all are not like that. Oskar Schindler, hanging one of the period to him most awful of the history will try to saves lives . A movie in homage to the victims of the nazism and also in homage to this man who succeeded in saving life so much, a whole list

It is a very emotional scene

  Berga: Soldiers of Another War
Posted by: afc7883 - 05-15-2007, 02:02 PM - Forum: TV Shows, Film, Videos - No Replies

I rented this film from Netflix recently. It is the story of American GI's captured during the Battle of the Bulge and sent to slave labor camps in Germany where they were starved, beaten and forced to work in the quartz mines, many until they died. This was no Luftwaffe run Stalag, but a death camp run by the Waffen SS. The entire film is just a collection of US Army veterans telling their stories to the camera, although there is some actual wartime film as well as some reenactment that goes along with their words. They worked along side of the prisoners from Auschwitz and Buchanwald who had been moved from those camps to work digging these underground tunnels that were to be used as factories that could not be bombed by airstrikes. Those who survived were mere skeletons, weighing less than 100 lbs. Makes me wonder why there were ever shows like "Hogans Heroes" where German soldiers were portrayed as bumbling, but "lovable" buffoons like Sgt. Schultz and Col. Klink while the POWS ran the camps.

Cecil Addy - 36th Combat Engineer
Posted by: Walt's Daughter - 05-14-2007, 11:23 AM - Forum: WWII ENGINEERS - No Replies

My new friend Nancy and I have been corresponding for a few weeks. Here's her latest letter to me. :armata_PDT_37:

Hello again, Marion.

I just wanted to send you an update about information

on Cecil Addy, who was in the 36th Engineering Combat

Unit.

His daughter used a camcorder to record some of his

remembrances. I volunteered to take the recording and

put it in written form. I started doing that

yesterday. It's going to take a little while since it

involves a lot of listening and re-listening. But I'm

determined to get it done.

They also plan to go through his pictures and find

some you might like to have.

I'll do my best to get this done as soon as possible.

I hope to have it all ready in maybe a couple of weeks

or so. I hope this won't be too late for submission

to use in your book. If you need it sooner, let me

know and I'll try to speed up!

Thanks so much.

Best regards,

Nancy
