When I look at my mail and I see a handwritten latter with a vaguely familiar return address I know what is in it before I open it. Another old Seahorse has died, Burnice Hays from Missouri. I get some nice letters from the wives or relatives and I always answer them, but what can I say? Our number is now 52.
36 Engineers are rugged......John Fallon II. Capt. USA Ret.
I didn't know Burnice personally, but sad nonetheless. My condolences to his fellow seahorses and to his wife and family. John, I know how you hate getting those in the mail...

Received this letter tonight. This was in response to an article we had posted (with full credits given). I have pulled the article. Sad in this day and age that you can't post good news, even when you post the article and give credit to the author and site.

From John...
I just received news that Ray Van Hassel died. He was a regular at our reunions until a couple of years ago. His wife Ruth said that they always enjoyed getting the letters and she asked if I would please keep her on the list. And she'll stay as long as I can send out the letters. As each one passes the rest of you all become more valuable.
36 Engineers are rugged......John Fallon II. Capt. USA Ret.
Unfortunately I never had the chance to meet him. Marion
