Posted by: Walt's Daughter - 04-19-2005, 08:23 PM - Forum: ANYTHING WWII - Replies (19)

Heading down to the Michigan Chapter Luncheon for the 101st Airborne tomorrow. They are having an auction too, so this will be a lot of fun. Papa Art and I are going early to help setup. Hope I get a chance to bid on a few items. That would be awesome.

Details to come when I get back... :drinkin:

  No Nursin Home for ME
Posted by: Cadetat6 - 04-19-2005, 02:18 PM - Forum: The Papa Art Section! - Replies (1)

No nursing home for me!! I'm checking into the Holiday Inn.

With the average cost for a nursing home per day reaching $188.00, there is a better way when we get old & feeble. I have already checked on reservations

at the Holiday Inn. For a combined long term stay discount and senior discount, it's $49.23 per night. That leaves

$138.77 a day for:

1. Breakfast, lunch and dinner in any restaurant I want, or room service.

2. Laundry, gratuities and special TV movies.

Plus, they provide a swimming pool, a workout room, a lounge, washer,

dryer, etc. Most have free toothpaste and razors, and all have free shampoo and soap. They treat you like a

customer, not a patient. $5 worth of tips a day will have the entire staff scrambling to help you.

There is a city bus stop out front, and seniors ride free. The handicap bus will also pick you up (if you fake a decent

limp).

To meet other nice people, call a church bus on Sundays.

For a change of scenery, take the airport shuttle bus and eat at one of the nice restaurants there. While you're at

the airport, fly somewhere. Otherwise, the cash keeps building up.

It takes months to get into decent nursing homes.

Holiday Inn will take your reservation today. And you are not stuck in one place forever, you can move from Inn to Inn, or even from city to city. Want to see Hawaii? They have a Holiday Inn

there too.

TV broken? Light bulbs need changing? Need a mattress replaced? No problem. They fix everything, and apologize for the inconvenience.

The Inn has a night security person and daily room service. The maid checks to see if you are ok. If not, they will call the undertaker or an ambulance. If you fall and break a hip, Medicare will pay for the hip, and Holiday Inn will upgrade you to a suite for the rest of your life.

And no worries about visits from family. They will always be glad to find you, and probably check in for a few days mini-vacation. The grandkids can use the pool. What more can you ask for? So, when I reach the golden age I'll face it with a grin. Just forward all my emails to the Holiday Inn!!

Why God Made Moms" Unknown Author

"Why God made moms" answers given by elementary school age children to the

following questions.

Why did God make mothers?

1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.

2. Mostly to clean the house.

3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?

1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.

2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.

3. God made my mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger

parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of?

1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in

the world and one dab of mean.

2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use

string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

1. We're related.

2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?

1. My mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.

2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty

bossy.

3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

1. His last name.

2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk

on beer?

3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to

chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?

1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my mom eats a lot.!

2. She got too old to do anything else with him.

3. My grandma says that mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?

1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof

ball.

2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.

3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms and dads?

1 . Moms w ork at work & work at home, & dads just go to work at work.

2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.

3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause

that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's.

4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mom do in her spare time?

1. Mothers don't do spare time.

2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?

1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of

plastic surgery.

2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of

that.

2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did

it and not me.

3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on her back.

Hi all:

Well thanks to my dear buddy, Al Kincer, I now have the complete set of

Engineer History - Mediterranean Theater - Fifth Army

It's a three volume set and he had given me the first book a few months back. Now I have all three and what a fine addition it is to my collection. I am very grateful.

The books are complete with detailed maps, history each unit and many have photos to go along with. A real treasure for me.

THANKS AL. YOU'RE THE BEST!
