Info on Julius G Wolfe - 149th Engineer
#1

Hello Marion, My name is Danny Dohmen and I'm from The Netherlands. I saw your name on your website http://www.6thcorpscombatengineers.com ad I was wondering if you could help me.

The reason I write to you is as follows: I'm interested in WWII and the American heroes who fought in this war. I want to pay my respect for these men by adopting a grave at the Colleville Sur Mer Cemetery, France. They must never be forgotten. The hero I adopted is Julius G. Wolfe from Barton County, Missouri. He is MIA on 6 June 1944 and his name is on the Wall of the Missing.

I don't know much more than this and I hope you can help me in searching for family or more information about him or his unit. He fought with the 149th Engineer Combat Battalion. He probably was killed when the ship he was on LCI-92 hit a mine and was shelled by the enemy.

Thank you for your time Danny Dohmen The Netherlands

The post above was taken from Facebook. Ralph Peters put me in touch with Danny this morning, and I told him I would be happy to assist.

Anyone with any info, please let us know.

More info...

Hello Marion, A little question. Does the name McNelley ring a bell? His name is on the backside of one of the pictures I sent you. He was a Sergeant at the time of the picture. I don't know if he is alive or family is still alive?
