Request from Germany....

Dear Marion,

my name is Armin Wolf and I am from Saarlautern Germany.

I am looking for veterans and fallen soldiers of the 259th Infantry Regiment of the

U.S. 65th Infantry Division during the period from December 1944 to March 1945

Battle for Saarlautern (Citadel Saarlautern) Saar River Germany

The background is.

I own an original Willys MB Jeep that I would like to dedicate a soldier or a fallen soldier.

Unfortunately I have no information about soldiers who fought in Saarlautern or fallen.

Example:

Memorial of (name)

259th Infantry Regiment

or

( Killed in Action March 1945 Saarlautern )

Since I live in Saarlouis, then Saarlautern I would like to thank the men who freed the Saarlautern.

On my website I have compiled an information from the 260th Infantry Regiment, 65th Division, and she would like to expand.

For this reason, I am for any material that might be useful very grateful.

If it had a name or address of belonging for me, I would be very grateful.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen

Armin Wolf

http://www.65thdiv.c...v1/kia.html#THR - 259th KIA list with several from the battle of Saalautern.

Here's another page which lists DSC recipients and the last one listed is a soldier from the 259th in Saalautern.

You might find this very helpful... The book is $9.99

http://www.ddaymilitaria.com/259_inf.htm

This is a book which states:

This is the fourth in a series of indexes of all infantry regiments and independent infantry battalions of the US Army in WWII. Others will be published as they are completed.

This work includes all decorations cited in the general orders of the 259th Infantry Regiment.* Please note that some decorations to members of the 259th Infantry Regiment may have been cited in general orders of other commands. This index lists members of the 259th Infantry Regiments that were awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge or the Combat Medic Badge by the 259th Infantry Regiment. Combat Infantryman Badges and Combat Medic Badges are important, since the recipients of these badges are retroactively entitled to a Bronze Star Medal, under Change 13 to Army Regulation 600-45, Department of the Army, 4 November 1947. I have made no attempt to list the Unit Awards, awards of specific Battle Stars, and Good Conduct Medals.

The general orders present in the 259th Infantry’s file at the National Archives are mostly extracts. I was unable to locate the original complete general orders. The extracts are not numbered by which section of the larger general order which they came from. Most extracts are arranged according to company assignments, but some companies do not have an extract, therefore, it is entirely possible that some information is missing from this work.
