Now showing on the History Channel 6PM EDT, Tuesday, August 28, 2007 - (to repeat)
http://www.history.com/shows.do?episodeId=...p;action=detail
Everyone knows the public archive footage of Hitler. But most of it is silent. What was he saying? What did he sound like when he was having a conversation rather than shouting his beliefs to his followers? Special computer technology enables us for the first time to lip-read the silent film. Using a unique sound recording of Hitler never previously broadcast, we can, put his words into his mouth. The result will add texture and depth to our understanding of a man about whom millions of words have been written--but whom we have never heard just talking. Footage includes film shot by Eva Braun, sequences filmed by Nazi cameramen, and a secret sound recording made in 1942 by radio engineer Thor Damen.
Rating: TVPG
Running Time: 60 minutes
==============
My husband caught this earlier today and said it was kind of eerie to see some of the private stuff. It's showing again now, so I just had to see it.

Looking for any info on anything with the 19th Combat Engineer Regiment of WWII. Would like to know if anyone was assigned to H/S Co. and knew PFC Grover (Cleve) Dunn, Jr., KIA 31 Jan. 43 near Gafsa, Tunisia. I have written a bio of him but would like to hear from other vets for a possible web page for these guys. Also, looking for new contact info on Tim Nelson who helped me some nine years ago. Email address that is listed on "memories of Tim Nelson" is invalid. Thanks!

Hello! I am doing research on the 19th Combat Engineer Regiment of WWII. I have previously written a bio of PFC Grover C. (Cleve) Dunn, Jr. KIA 31 Jan. 1943 in Tunisia, for my former VFW Post here in Kentucky. I myself was not an engineer, so I had no idea of the info available. This is a great site! I have already found some info that has been very helpful on the 19th. I hope to speak to JACE in the future as we share the same interests with the 19th. My ultimate goal is to start a web page for the 19th. I hope anyone with any knowledge of the 19th can help. I know that Cleve's sister was very pleased that someone actually took the time to search for her brothers info and she was very helpful as well with what info she could provide on this tragedy. I SALUTE ALL YOU ENGINEERS AND FAMILY OF ENGINEERS!! (Please don't look down on me because I was a lowly CAV SCOUT! )

This book was first published in 1988, so I'm sure there are probably some members here who have read it before. I stumbled upon it quite by accident after buying a DVD about Frederic Arnold's tribute to his 12 fallen comrades on ebay. Since my reading interests run more to Infantry and Armored units this will be the first book I've read by a WWII Fighter (P-38) Pilot. Major Arnold, who is in his mid 80's now is a real gentleman and was kind enough to sign the book for me as well as to give me several signed 8X10's of him sitting in the cockpit of his P-38!
His book and other mementos & lithographs are available on ebay, and they are well worth the modest prices he asks, and Major Arnold handles each order himself! I know I didn't say much about the book, and that's because I haven't finished reading it yet. More later...
