MONTFAUCON AMERICAN MONUMENT & ROMAGNE SOUS MONTFAUCON AMERICAN CEMETERY AND MEMORIAL
Posted by: rudolph arruda - 05-12-2008, 04:44 PM - Forum: WWI - Replies (9)

Hi everyone

Last Sunday I has been at the Verdun Argonne area and we visited the Monfaucon American Monument situated at the destroyed town of Montfaucon, rebuilt nearby after the war.

After that we travelled too the American cemetery of Romagne sous Montfaucon and by travelling through those small towns you discover at every corner a monument.

The American cemetery is in a beautiful place over 14000 hero's found here their last rest.

I've shot again a lot of photos and if you like you can see them here: http://picasaweb.google.com/rennog/WWIBattlefields

  An evening of food rationing
Posted by: civilwargal - 05-11-2008, 01:21 PM - Forum: General discussion - Replies (1)

I had my ration party last night. I served the equivelant of 2 meals, as it was a large crowd. I had Meatloaf with horseradish, spam and noodle casserole, cole slaw, green beans and Kraft Macaroni and cheese. For dessert we had a spice cake with pudding made with coffee and a tiny bit of melted chocolate instead of frosting, and fruit stretched with cooked tapioca. The best part was that folks brought with them 3 huge boxes filled with treats and personal care items that I'm forwarding to a unit of combat engineers.

What suprised me is that they ate all the Spam.... Of course it helped that I told them is was Ham casserole

  Cell Phones For Soldiers

Cell Phones For Soldiers

A great program which I am taking part of, since I just upgraded and received a new phone. The old phone was placed in a mailing bag (provided by the company), which will be recycled. The money raised is used to purchase calling cards for our troops.
