Today it is with sadness, I say goodbye to a dear friend and SEAHORSE - John Ivancik
I had the chance to meet John at three Seahorse Reunions, but last year he did not attend. Today I picked up my copy of the Anzio Beachhead Veterans Newsletter and saw his name at the top of the Deceased Members Column
John Ivancik
Ambridge, PA
36th Engrs
John was always a very quiet fellow, and always brought his Anzio Beachhead merchandise to the reunions. Hats and pins and patches, etc. He had a very good heart, but because he was so quiet, never got to know him as well as my other seahorses. Nonetheless, he shall be missed by me and by his brother Seahorses, the 36th Engineers.
Am including two photos; a group shot, and one of John with his merchandise at the table. Something he always loved. I am sure he will also be missed by the Anzio Beachhead boys too.
In the group photo, he is top row, second from the left, in between John Zappitello and Carl Furtado.
Thoughts and prayers with Betty Huebner, wife of Howard Huebner, 82nd Airborne. She was taking to the hospital last night. Not a happy valentines day for them. No information yet.
Howard and Betty, hang in there. You are good people.
Received this today. Called the AEA store, and already have a poster secured for Chris! Essayons. Happy to send this your way, free of charge. Stay safe and essayons!

Dear Marion,
Is there any place to buy a copy of the “WE CLEAR THE WAY” WW II Army Corps of Engineer poster? I am an engineer with the USACE currently serving in Iraq.
There was a huge display of the poster in one of my dining halls at Camp Victory on the West side of Baghdad. I have since been shipped to another location in Iraq and I miss seeing it.
I have seen it on the web- historical discussions, etc. but, I have not seen anyone selling reprints. I was wondering if anyone was offering then for sale.

Here is a photo of rat trap! It is a luring in the shape of rat containing an explosive.
That was used to destroy vehicles by putting it in the middle of the road. Here a site on the elements of sabotage used by the SOE (English secret services) and by resistance:
