I am currently in California on a TAD trip (Temporarily Assigned Duty, AKA Temporarily assigned drunk!) While driving from 29 Palms to Camp Pendleton I passed the March Air Field Museum and stopped. I had seen the aircraft there on the occassions I flew into March (on the way to Iraq or to 29 Palms for training) but never had the chance to go. I took a bunch of pictures and you can see all of them here. Here are a few:
On this date in 1945, the president of the United States of America, dies a mere 4 weeks before VE-Day, and never lives to see the demise of the hated fuhrer and his reign of terror on the entire world, nor the final end of WWII, later in August.
It was a very somber day in the United States and across the world.
Looking for any info about my grandfather. Francis (Chick?) Daday. He was injured at the bridge near Remegan, Germany, was wounded by artiliery and put in a coma. Was sent home sometime in June or July 1945. If anyone has any info would love to share it. He was from Yonkers NY born 1910. Thanks for the help
We have been in Iraq for over a month and have plenty of action going on. We assume responsibilities as the theater engineer brigade conducting route clearance, bridging and construction across the country. We have several new battalions working under us now ... of course ... they all have been indoctrinated on the great history of the 36th Engineers ... they are Rugged!
Let me know if any of our great vets need anything from the Rugged Team.
Sent you a copy of CSM Murphy and Myself wearing the 36th Patch ... in combat once again ... a good add to your web site.
