Sent an email to Gilles regarding his photo of a 36th Combat Engineer's helmet. He has a photo site dedicated to the 36th Inf Div. I got this back today along with some photos. I am going to include these on the 36th's Engineer'sHistory Page too.

This refers to the 36th Inf Div, not the 36th Engineers. Didn't want anyone to get confused!:lol:

Ihave been corresponding with Gilles lately and He has a top notch reenactment group tht marches in Parades. It is great to see our guys of the 36th honored in southern France by such a great group of guys...I'was nearly inspired to get out the Garand and go join up with them!

Well if you ever put on the uniform and pick up the Garand, then you must share the photos with us. :pdt34:

He's a really great guy! We have been writing to each often too.

Marion: Not to be a nit picker, but 2 of these pics look like "helmet liners. Never saw a

"helmet liner" with a isnige on it. Helmets, yes. Liners, no. At least not in a combat zone. Usually only on the steel helmet except for M.P.'s well back in the cities.

It very well could be. I showed the photos to Captain John Fallon of the 36th CE and he loved them. We can ask him for further clarification. :pdt34:

Joe; !st. and 3rd. ARE helmet liners, the 2nd one is the helmet. Check the

strap ad the brim. Joe you are sharp. Roque

Ps--No, no insignas on liners.
