N OTE: THe ground hamburg is a modern item. In the early days it was sausage! THE same white gravy used with the chipped beef was made from sausage fat. Just add milk or water to your flour. Then slowly stir it into your fat.

 

In Oct 43 basic the Camp Wheeler GA. cooks called the chipped beef and gravy on toast SOS In todays VAMC at Martinsburg W VA. the white gravy with sausage is served with home frys,eggs or a biscuit. I never miss it when I have an APPT. there.
