Tweets show preservation of burned military records

 

A preservation expert at the Military Personnel Records archive, in north St. Louis County, is tweeting pictures and details of her job at the National Archives in St Louis, MO.

I read through this very carefully and admire the work being done to rescue the burnt and water damaged records. The kind of work I'd love to be doing myself. My only thought is that it is only one third of those lost that can be dealt with and the other two thirds are gone forever! A tragic loss.

Tragic indeed. Still saddens me, but this was so nice to see. I'm glad that something can be salvaged.

I am curious what kind of new information can / will pop up. I am happy to see they are able to restore important documents like these.
