Real often when I am all alone

My mind goes back to Bastogne

The men that lost their young lives

That back home had children and wives

Some there were very young too

Willing to give their blood and life for you

But the Germans found out for sure

That in rough times Americans can endure

There were many men that died there alone

But the Germans never could capture Bastogne

The Belgians could never ask for more

Than our men did in winter of forty four

But God has ways of helping me in the end

That is the cause of meeting Filip my friend
