2759th Engineers

Received this letter this afternoon:

 

My name is Joe Corley. I am writing to share or see if you have any information about my Grandfather.

 

Harvey K. Corley

 

His discharge papers show that he served in the 2759th engineers, and we know he was a medic.

 

he was awarded the bronze star, and mid-eastern africa campaign, and europe campaign medal.

 

other than that we know nothing about his unit or were he served, he told us he was in france and

 

germany. the army informed us that any information that would have been available was lost in a fire

 

in St. Louis in 1972. I will be glad to share what i have with you, he is deceased know and we are

 

know trying to back track.

I suggest you contact the Army Corps of Engineers. They were a huge help to me. You may also want to contact WW2 Connections. Richard Horrell is a private researcher. If you do decide to contact him, please tell him that Marion sent you. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance. I just contacted NARA in Maryland and they came up with all kinds of documents on the 540th. If you are interested, I can tell you more.

 

I look forward to hearing from you and I would love to listen to the story of your grandfather. We could do a page for him in the near future.
