Funny you should mention that; I saw that on my page-a-day calendar that day. It occurred to me that I didn't hear any mention of that anywhere (save here today, of course) but you hear all kind of hubbub about Cinco de Mayo. It then occurred to me that, like St. Patrick's Day, it (Cinco de Mayo) is probably just something that is a much bigger in the USA then in the originating country.
What's really more important to the country? Independence or a victory over the French (apologies, Vee!)??
PS. I'm currently listening to the Rush Limbaugh Podcast
Capt. Todd---Cinco de Mayo is just a celebration of a battle that Mexico won. But Sept. 16 is when indeed
Mexico won it's independence from,,Capt. you are right.---------AS We SAY--***VIVA MEXICO*****
