Superb story. :drinkin: Yes, engineers are an enterprising group of men, and as was stated here by you and elsewhere on this site, the engineers in many, many instances were used as infantry and did some damned good fighting.

 

Question - Do you know if any Seabees were awarded the combat infantryman's badge? After talking with yet another engineer regiment last night (the 326th Airborne), they sadly informed me that even though they fought many times as infantry and were even captured and held as PW's, they were not eligible either. They even stated this in the newspaper article that was printed this week in a Frankenmuth, MI newspaper.
