Hi Mary Ann and thank you for your reply. Your statistics on Britain in WWII were also interesting as was the involvement of the US forces. It is a coincidence that tonight on BBC TV here was a report that a local hospital here in the nearby City of Bath is to be refurbished and it will include the demolition of buildings erected by the US Army in 1944 prior to and for use after D Day. These buildings have been in use right up to today - built to last!
