Jo Stafford, Wistful Voice of WWII Era, Dies at 90
#3

I recall my mother singing along with Jo Stafford's "You Belong To Me", but I'll always have another association with Ms Stafford. When my mother was expecting me, the #1 hit in 1952 was Jo Stafford singing "Jambalaya" & apparently, my mother was experiencing "morning sickness" at the time & ever after - that song always made her feel nauseous. Years later, whenever it came on the radio, my mother would hollar at my father: "Oh no, Jambalaya! Frank, turn THAT off!"
