Without the code-breaking skills very early in the war, Great Britian would have been in much worse shape than she already was. They were learning where the next attacks were going to occur and God only knows how many lives that saved.

 

As you stated, they had to be very careful and try not to give away TOO MUCH. A very fine line.

 

All the behind-the-scenes events during the war were extremely fascinatiing. The war effort was an ENTIRE effort on all fronts and yes, civilians played an immensely important role in bringing down the bad guys! We love watching all the History Channel programs, etc., on this. Sounds like something that I would have loved to be involved in. Oh yes! :drinkin:
