Read that article in depth and I can believe every single word of it and how the Brits made the people there toe the line with the "Secrets Act".
They still do it today as a matter of fact. I correspond with a man who was in the Metropolitan Police(retired) and there are WW II items that,as well as I know him, he'll not discuss them today.
There was an area down near the Southern Coast where D-Day activities were going on and to prevent the locals from knowing anything the Authorities cleared a SEVEN (7) mile square area for all but troops. Moved the locals lock,stock and barrel away.
