I was just whatching " Victory at Sea" Episodes. They said the convoys would Zig-Zag because of the German Sub's. Can a large ship do that and keep from being sunk?

While my friend was on board the Navy carrier USS George Washington, the air wing was busy with training missions. After talking to a pilot, one air-traffic controller accidentally left his microphone on and remarked to a nearby buddy, "That guy sounded just like Elmer Fudd."
The airwaves got strangely quiet as everyone listened, realizing that the pilot had also heard the comment. After about ten seconds, the pilot broke the silence by announcing, "Be vewy, vewy quiet. We are hunting submawenes."

Well.....I'm fresh in from the Repple Depple over at WBG. I thought I'd snoop around here a bit and see what's going on. And I must say, I'm damn glad to be here.

If you haven't had the chance to check out a program called the History Detective on PBS (Public Broadcasting Service), I think it is worth your while.
Last night's episode (7-11-05) featured the search for a Texan WWII German POW camp. It held our interest and we found out info that we did not know about previously.
"History Detectives is constantly on the lookout for new stories. Many of the stories you see on air this season are from you, the viewer, who emailed us here on this site.
Tell us about your mystery, and please include the key facts you already know, and what you hope to learn by investigation."
