  La Coupole WWII Rocket Base
Posted by: sixgun - 08-13-2007, 01:21 PM - Forum: ANYTHING WWII - Replies (2)

I went this weekend visited the museum .

La Coupole WWII Rocket Base that was constructed by Nazi Germany at Wizernes , south west of the French town of Saint Omer , between Lille and Calais.

The Coupole is a gigantic underground bunker designed by the Nazis, in 1943,1944 to store,

prepare and launch the rocket V2 ( first machines to have reached stratosphere), the secret weapon with which Hilter intented to destroy London and reverse the course of the war.

Here the link from my online album's about my visit " La coupole WWII Rocket base at Wizernes.

US guards at the Nuremberg Trials
Posted by: Bill Corwin - 08-12-2007, 06:51 PM - Forum: OTHER WWII UNIT STORIES AND INFO - Replies (8)

Anyone know what US unit/units stood guard at the Nuremberg Trials? I've searched around online many times and find no mention. :banghead: I have a few books on the trials but the photos are not clear enough to make out any insignia on the guard uniforms.

Memorial of the train of Loos
Posted by: sixgun - 08-11-2007, 01:40 PM - Forum: ANYTHING WWII - No Replies

I went today to take some photos to the train of Loos memorial . It's around 15 min's of Lille where I live. on september 1,1944, approximately 900 political prisoners left the German prison of Loos to be off -set in the bagnes Nazis . 1/3 will return in spring 1945 . It is the tragedy of train of Loos . Never in this morning of September 1,1944, whereas the Allies are with the doors of Lille that the Resistant ones take the weapons to release the Metropolis, that the German railwaymen agree not to drive this train... Never the train of Loos should not have left . And yet, it will arrive the camps of death .
