New 101st ABD Memorial in Bastogne
Posted by: gbuscg - 09-27-2008, 11:00 AM - Forum: ANYTHING WWII - Replies (3)

All ,

Yesterday the new memorial for the 101st ABD and ALL it’s attached units was inaugurated near the Mardasson in Bastogne .

In attendance of US Embassador Sam Fox and a 101st Airborne AirAssault Color Guard .

Lots of familiar faces and a beautiful ceremony for a beautiful sculpture .

Those who desire to receive a copy from the Mayor’s speech , drop me a mail at bbtours@telenet.be .

  Ponte Drillo.
Posted by: colinhotham - 09-27-2008, 05:18 AM - Forum: Veterans Tributes - No Replies

A ceremony was recently held at the Ponte Drillo in Sicily to remember those US servicemen killed during the

battle for the Drillo bridge.

I have visited the Drillo Bridge and the US memorial there and it has an evocative feeling about it as the WWII

pillboxes and gun emplacements are still standing after 65 years.

Hello I am looking for information of the 138th ENGR Combat Battalion.

Hope someone can help.

But I don’t find something what’s brings me some news/info about this battalion.

Historical Telegraph: Goring to Ritter Von Greim on 12-16-44
Posted by: afc7883 - 09-23-2008, 07:21 PM - Forum: ANYTHING WWII - No Replies

This is a document I would love to own, but the cost is prohibitive. It is a telegraph from Herman Goring to Ritter Von Greim, dated De. 16, 1944. I know there are several forum members that speak and read German, but for those like me who don't, it basically says: The Ardennes offensive has begun and the following Luftwaffe groups have been transferred to aid you.

Hope you enjoy it!
