Colonel Jack Brooks will tell of Allied efforts to subdue our enemies in the Ground Battle for North Africa and Europe on September 10 at 7 pm at the Trailside Center as part of the WW II Living History Series sponsored by the New Santa Fe Historical Society.
Colonel Brooks, local Historian and career Military Officer, was a young Infantry officer with the lst Infantry Division in invasions of North Africa, Sicily, and Normandy on D-Day.
Colonel Brooks recently spent 3 days at Fort Riley with his old outfit, the Big Red One, and will give a brief update on how he views today’s soldiers and the state of the US Army.
9/07 is the anniversary of the Battle of Antietam. It still remains the greatest loss of American Life on a single day. About 23,000 Americans died on that day.
1941 Germany Jews Ordered To Wear Yellow Star Of David
6th Sept. 1941:-
The head of the Berlin Secret Police ordered all Jews over 6 years old to wear a yellow star of David on their coats together with the word Jew, and they are not to leave the area they have been assigned without obtaining police permission.
