  1. Its been over a year since this post. Has any one heard from Roque? I tried to Google his name and look on the 34th ID Association webpage but no new information is available. Kyle
  2. Hello all my name is Kyle Thomas and I am fairly new to this forum. I was wondering if there is any one out there who could help me find more information on my Uncle Harold G. Parnell. He was killed in action in Tunisia on April, 15 1943. I am having a hard time finding any information on the Mediterranean Theater in North Africa. I have gotten some information from Roque Riojas whom I met researching information on my uncle. I also read in this forum that Dogdaddy has done extensive research on the Mediterranean Theater. If any one could set me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for any help. Re-introduction

Thanks all for the good words. This my first deployment to Iraq and its much different than the one I used to do to Saudi Arabia and Turkey. I can thank my luck stars I am in the Air Force. The Soldiers and Marines here do all the hard work. They keep us all safe. I can say this isnt the safest place to be though. I have had the opportunity to volunteer at the local theater hospital a handful of times. It is a modern day MASH unit. They patch up everyone and them ship them to Germany or the states for more extensive treatment. The doctors here are great. If they can get the soldier or Marine here alive they have 98% chance of survival. That is an awesome number. I thank all the wounded I see for what they have done. I can say its not always a pretty sight but they need to know they have support. Anything I can do to help I will do. Would also like to thank everyone out there who supports the troops downrange but sending notes or packages. We see lots of support from home. Hope everyone is well and will definetly keep in better touch. Kyle

All Got to visit with a few of the vets of Easy Company, 506 PIR, 101st Airborne at one of our bases here in Germany. I got to talk to Buck Taylor, Forrest Guth, Hank Zimmerman, Ed Tipper, Bill Maynard, Rod Bain, Ed Joint, Frank Soboleski, and Herb Suerth. I talked to a few about my history group and gave them all a patch from our group. Oh and I also had them sign my copy of BoB. It was nice to talk to them and shake their hands. Kyle

    2nd and 3rd Armored re-enactment

Thanks Joe, I will have to look him up!
  19. My fellow re-enactors just returned from a re-enactment in Viesville, Belgium this past weekend. It was the anniversary of the towns liberation by the 2nd and 3rd Armored divisions. They both took different routes into different villages. On Saturday we convoyed on the path of the 2nd Armored and on Sunday we took the path of the 3rd Armored. I got to ride in a Jeep for about 5 hours over the weekend. What was really awesome was being able to retrace the exact route they did 60+ years ago. Also as we drove through the villages the residents came out to wave and cheer us on. It gave us a warm feeling inside especially when we would see some people that remembered the real liberation. To still see a smile as we drove by. The attached picture is of our convoy. If you would like to see more I can post them. Kyle

    2nd and 3rd Armored re-enactment

As we were driving through the viliages I commented to my friend that those people must have seen this firsthand. After that we made sure we singled out the older folks when we waves or raised our weapons!! I got a little teary too as we were riding. I try but its hard to put myself in their shoes 60+ years ago. I made a goal for myself while I am here and thats to participate in as many things as I can as to teach what happened to as many people as I can. I am taking a group of Boy Scouts to the Ardennes American Cemetery on Vets day this year so i can pass on what I know. Kyle

    Dachau Liberated

All, This may be late but I may be able to help. Or not. I toured the camp in July with my parents. An aweful place!!!! During the tour we were told that the 42nd and 45th got to the camp at the same time but the 42nd General Linden had accepted the official surrender from Heinrich Wicker. As it goes I was not there so I have to take the word of a tour guide. Hope I dont offend anyone. Kyle
