349th Inf Div - Co "C" - Gilbert Charles Bingham
#1

My dear friend Carol stopped by the other day and handed me an envelope which contained several photos taken of the Liberty ship, which sailed from Leghorn, Italy on 23, January 1947.

The Stevens Victory was the name of the ship.

Pfc Gilbert Charles Bingham, was in Co "C", 349th Inf Regiment. His regiment was part of the 88th Blue Devils.

I am uploading a copy of the Embarkation document, along with the envelope.

I will upload the photos, shortly.

The images were taken with a camera with a lens that contained aberrations, that is why some places on the images are fuzzy.

More great history. Whenever I see photos like these I try to imagine the feelings in the head and hearts of the guys shown. I hate to call them the lucky ones - everyone of them had done their share towards victory. But we also remember the ones left behind and their ultimate sacrifice to defeat the Axis.

They came so far and gave so much.......... :smwave:
