An interesting discovery

Hello everyone,

after a long time, I post a picture of a Social Security card, found by my friend in the area of Monterenzio (near Bologna).

A friend of mine asked me if I could find some more information, and I turn to you this request :D

Thanks in advance for the help

Enry

A metal social security card? Was that the original material used for those?

No, the goverment never issued metal cards. Metal & plastic cards were made and sold by private companies, sometimes as advertizing gimicks. They seem to have popular in the 1960s.

I'll keep my eyes open. A precursory search this morning (just a general Google search) didn't turn up anything.

We'll go to NARA next and see what happens.

NOTE: Larry we must have been posting at the same time, for I when went to reply, your reply with all the info wasn't there yet.

Thanks. He beat me to the punch.

Many thanks, as always you are fantastic! my friend will happy, in case if you did manage to find the address of a relative, my friend may contact him!

The material is all painted brass. The finding is interesting because I do not think that the soldiers were to bring these cards in combat...
