Farewell Melvin Frank Lett - 101st Airborne
#1

Received the following from my friend Ellen, this morning. Her husband is a member of the 82nd Airborne. Thought I would post this on your site. Hoping someone will recognize the name.

=======================

Marion, you are the one person I know of that must know just about every vet there is in the world, so thought I would pass this on to you. (Unless Howard beat me to it).

Ellen

A nice gentleman from our sr.citizen center, Melvin Frank Lett, (Frank, to all of us), passed away during leg amputation surgery April 27th. He was born March 22, 1920 in Willoughby, Ohio. He was a (Proud) trooper with the 101st division. Earned the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, others. Was at the Normandy invasion, the Bulge and all the way to Berlin. Married a German girl, Freide, and has a son, Juergen Gradl in Bruckberg, Germany. In the service 24 years. He sure could tell the stories if a person was his friend. He had lots of them.(friends). He was a life member of the 101st Airborne Division, VFW post #3917, American Legion Post #38 & The Enlisted Association #1. He drove around in a red/white/ blue Chevy pick up with Airborne & patriotic stickers and 2 American flags waving. Thought you might pass it on. Perhaps someone might remember him. He requested no services.

Don't know if you will be able to see these images on Burgett's forum, if you are not a member and logged in, but here is the post. Got a response already. Cool!

Non-members who tried to view, couldn't see the images, so I am pasting Ron's comments here, and also including the photos he supplied. Thanks Ron!

Best regards
