The following files are from ENGINEER HISTORY - FIFTH ARMY - MEDITERANEAN THEATER . This is a really nice 3 volume set. Presented here for folks who don't have access to this set. The files deal with the 1108th Engr C Grp and the battalions assigned to the group.

I made this as a surprise for my dad after I had secretly gotten his medals for him. He cried when I presented it to him. I think that Appenines is misspelled and should be "Apennines". After he died my mom gave it back to me.

That reminds me; I still have to place my father's in a shadow box. I keep meaning to do that. It will be at the top of my New Year's Resolutions for 2009. Get 'er done!

I sure love my three volume set. One of my most prized possessions.

My dad's name appears in File 2A, right underneath Mr. Poole's. I can not possibly thank Mr. Poole enough for what he has given me.

Hello all. I'm Dennis Jones. son of William Sam Jones, Sgt in Co B of the 337th Combat Engineers when he was discharged. Dad was severly wounded in the invasion of Salerno (his entire platoon was lost except two in a single artillary shell explosion). We buried him with his Purple Heart pinned to his suit. My brother Roger and I have just started this journey of discovery to find out what Dad went through to make him the man he was. The war effected him, as it did anyone connected to the war. How it effected him is a major factor in how he related to his family. As we search his history I will post whatever I find, including sources. Thanks for listening.
