I have this medal from my grandfather. Does anyone have any information on it?

It is a 5th Army Medal - I saw one and said it was worth about $50.00. Of course you aren't going to sell it.

From what I can ascertain, it is a original British Empire medal.

5TH. ARMY OF THE ENTRY INTO NAPLES 1/10/1943. As issued to British & American Troops in WW2.

The medal is #ITA 010

I am working on a shadow box for my grandfather's things and this will be included. I am also getting in touch with Fort knox to get a flag flown on base to use in it as well. (He attended infantry officers' school there in '36.)

I'll send pictures when it eventually get's done - not likely to be real soon.

Wonderful. I think it's great that you are taking the time to remember him.

I still have to get a shadow box for my dad. I am also getting another to display all the things I've acquired in the last four years.

Does any other vet here have one in their collection? I must admit I haven't run across any of these in my previous studies.

I'd love to hear more about this medal and how and when it was distributed.
