Remembering the Normandy D-Day
#11

I know the Americans got off to a shakey start in N. Afrika for the reasons you mentioned, but it didn't take them long to learn from their mistakes and start takin' names. I am still appalled when I hear about the way "Monty" spoke to Ike, and I will fast forward to avoid listening to his comments post-war about "We should have done....etc., etc.," As far as the American GI being a wimp or anything close to it...any man who can use a steel helmet to crap in one day and eat out of it the next day is no wimp in my book! ;)
