108th Engineers - finding Dad's unit - 1942mb - 12-26-2005

I am looking for information concering my Dad's unit. I know very little about it. He was in the Phillipines, later in the war. He was in Japan after the surrender. He was on Luzon, Mindano, Mindoro that I know of. I have a 5th Air force patch, a patch with a red star inside another red star out line. The 108th Combat Eng. Batt seems to fit with what I know, but I have no other info. Can anyone help?

Dave. Can you scan the patch or take a photo of it to send to me? If I can see what you have, I'll be able to help you better.

We'll do all we can. I have tons of info on ETO units, not much on Pacific, but that doesn't mean I can't be of assistance.

The 108th has a reunion at least once a year (separate from the 33rd Division convention); the reunions are usually organized by Bob Christensen (630-898-4462). Earl Thayer (the 108's co. clerk) has written a truly incredible booklet telling the history of the 108's days from start to finish in the words (with photos) of the men of the 108th; limited copies available. This info was entered by Frank Christensen (Bob Christensen's son) and I also set up the website with the 108ths roster. Web Site 13-2-02
