John Francis Webb 101st 502nd PIR - Walt's Daughter - 07-26-2005

Received this letter this week:

----------------------------------

My friend and I are collecting as much information as possible about

John Francis Webb

Private first class

101st Airborne

502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment

1st Battalion - Company B

31291779

burried in Belgium and who's grave is permanently honored by my friend Jules Lamy.

See his site at : http://users.skynet.be/bs171567/webb/index.htm

In the book The Battered Bastards of Bastogne By George Koskimaki - Casemate Publishing 2003 the author is speaking about a man called Webb that could be John Webb.

We would like to contact the author in order to get more information or to know if he can tell us more about John Webb if he is the man that he is speaking about.

Could you please give us the e-mail (preferabily) or the address of George Koskimaki so that we can write to him. Another solution is that you forward this mail to Mr Koskimaki of course, asking him if he agrees with our request.

Thank you very much for your help and sorry for the trouble.

Yours, sincerely,

Claude

I was going to call George this week anyway, so I will ask him for you. I will also contact Don Burgett and see if he can shed any light on the subject. Let me see what I can do, and as soon as I know anything at all, I will contact you.

Warmest regards,

I called George Koskimaki last night and we had a very pleasant conversation. He said that he does indeed remember the name, but of course there were several Webbs in the 101st. He said to send him the information, so I sent him a card this morning and included all the info that Claude gave me in the above post. George stated that he'd be more than happy to help. He loves doing these kind of things for others. :pdt20:

I've continued to correspond with Claude during the week and he said he was very grateful for what I had done. He said if there's anything he can ever do...

So I wrote back to him and said that number one, he was to promise to keep me in the loop because I always love to hear the good news that transpires and number two, I asked him if he could get me a good map of the Netherlands/Belgium, etc. area.

He wrote back and is sending me the following maps. I am very excited.

Hi Marion

I've just ordered three maps at a map printing company :

Belgium and Grand Duchy of Luxemburg

Ardens

Netherlands

Please send me your mail address so that I can send them as soon as they are here.

Best regards,

Claude

Merci beaucoup Claude. This will help me to map the routes of many units including my dad's, now that I also have a map of France that was sent to me by my French cousin. Viola!
