You are welcome my dear friend. I'm glad I could help. I would be really excited to see what he can procure from NARA in Maryland too! Let me know what transpires! :pdt12:

Okay here's more. YEAH!

Hi Marion,
Attached are two PDF files pertaining to the 139th Airborne Engineer Battalion which I was not sure where to post on your website. This information came from my research about Operation Varsity sort of like collateral information. Since it deals with Engineers, I thought to send it to you.
My research was focused on the Phantom Glider because there were two army officers dressed in German uniforms who were to land by glider on Landing Zone N and drive a captured German jeep up and down the autobahn to redirect German reinforcements away from the allied landing sites. However, their glider was hit by antiaircraft fire damaging the jeep rendering their mission impossible to accomplish not withstanding the fact that the glider caught on fire upon landing and they were KIA by intense enemy fire. I am in the final stages of my research finding the after action report from the 17th Airborne Division from NARA which shows the exact spot where their glider landed along with the names of the occupants.
With kind regards,
John

PS Please let me know where you post the information

Okay here are the two attachments he sent to me. I'm sorry this wasn't posted earlier...

Interesting to hear about US Army personnel in German uniforms with a mission to redirect German forces. The same was tried in reverse during the Battle of the Bulge. The US reaction to the effort probably was more than what the Germans had hoped for in regards to confusion and slowing traffic.

I just received a disk with the unit history. I will upload it next week, if all goes well.
