marksman badge - Enrico - 10-04-2011

Hello everyone,

a technical question, the marksman badge or sharpshooter badge during WWII had the 2 safety pin or only the single pin?

I hope the question is clear :D

Marion or anyone else,

Did the M1 Rifle 30 Cal tag for the marksman badge say M1 Rifle or just Rifle?

Thanks,

Brian

What is the difference between the Rifle and M1 Rifle qualifications you have shown there? I assumed (at least for WWII) that the rifle was the M1 Garand. I know there are others for the carbine, B.A.R etc. but is there a difference between the Rifle and M1 Rifle?

Thanks again!

Well, the army marksmanship badges were have been aound since the 1880`s and the WWII versions were probaly around since 1921. So it would depend on the time frame and what rifle was available for the qualification. Not all soldiers qualified with the M1, my dad qualified with the `03 Springfield, which was still in wide use for training. Small caliber rifles like the .22 cal was used extensively in training and also used for qualification.
