The Battles for Monte Cassino Then and Now - Walt's Daughter - 03-24-2011

An internet friend just released his book. He had written to me months ago and...

Hi

I am co-authoring a book on the battles for the Gustav line and was wanting to ask your permission to use some of Al Kincer's (?) material on the link-up between II Corps and VI Corps.

Cheers

I told him I added the release to our forum. His reply was:

Thanks Marion. I tried to mention the engineers as much as possible, but as always had to fight the editor for space...

I am really upset by reading that quote.

When you hire a publisher, they can take over a lot of your work. That is why I self-published my documentary, and why many people follow suit now.

Don Burgett, famous author and member of the 101st Airborne, told me many stories how publishers/editors took control over this books. One woman wanted to remove a large section from his writings. Frustrating as hell.

It happens all the time.

The latest issue of World War II magazine has a cover story about The Battle for Kasserine Pass and the lessons learned there about tank warfare.
