I am going to get the book. I am really excited about that. My mom says she thinks there is another album somewhere ar my grandparent's with just war time photos. This is the first I have heard of this so I am totally excited! I have visited Carl's website and it is awesome! There are a coupke of Battle of the Bulge sites that have been helpful, just with the same lack of 424th stories. But from what I do know not many of the 424th made it through. Thanks for the extra info! I am becoming obsessed with the hunt. It is addicting. . I will post pictures as I get them.

There is also a memoir by Edward Prewett on the 106th page. He and my Granddad kept in touch until my granddad passed away and then he kept up with my Grandmother until his passing.

My grandfather was at Camp Atterbury in the 106th Infantry, 424th division. Can you give the link for the yearbook photo you located? I also found an account at http://www.history.a...i/7-8/7-8_7.HTM and Ed Prewett's letter to home (I need to go back and find the link. I have my Grandfather's enlisted photo but he never gave any information about his service. I have been reading your posts, did your Grandfather come home? If so did he attend reunions?

Just a quick update since so many of you have provided so much input over the past couple of years.

While cleaning one weekend day this past October I came across a letter dated 1948 addressed to my grandfather in response to a letter he had written to the Army in a box of misc. papers that were from his father's house, I actually was ready to dismiss this paper thinking it was another copy of his discharge paper. Well to my surprise the letter stated that they were awarding him the CIB for satisfactory performance during combat. We submitted a copy of this letter to Senator's office, which a few weeks ago we received the CIB, Bronze Star Medal w/ certificate in the mail.

I feel very, very fortunate that I was able to stumble across this paper, since there are still so many folks searching for documentation. I wanted to take the time to let you all know and to post a picture of the awards we received.
