Looking for members - 1321st Engineers WWII - Walt's Daughter - 08-06-2008

My historian friend, Michael Brodhead, Army Corps of Engineers - Office of History, is looking for living members of the African-American unit, the 1321st Engineer General Service Regiment.

Here's an earlier quote from him:

...We just got a nice donation pertaining to the 1321st Engineer General Service Regiment, a black unit. It includes scads of photographs, a 30+-page regimental history written by regimental commander Colonel Aldo H. Bagnulo, his diary, and other documents. It is unusual to have this many items for a black unit, so we are quite happy that the colonel's son, daughter-in-law, and another son were kind enough to place this great material with us...

He wrote to me today and asked if I knew of any possible way to get into contact with any living members or their families. so I am posting this here to help him with his search and research.

If anyone has any information, please get in touch with him:

Thanks to all,

M1

Hopefully we can help finding some former members of this regiment since they supported the Seventh Army & 1st French Army in France.

Some historical info and photos of the 1321st EGSR can be viewed here:

Yes, those are all the ones Michael has put together for his project. I hope we can help him too. Would be great to find even ONE member, wouldn't it? :pdt34:

I found something interesting to share with Michael this week. I sent him this link:

He wrote back and this is what he said:

Marion--

Now I'm really excited. The material at the University of Mississippi looks

great--an interview with a veteran (I'm assuming Mr. Pinson was with the

1321st) and lots of photos. I will contact the special collections people

today. I hope that Mr. Pinson is still living. Heartfelt thanks once more.

Mike

This is why I LOVE the internet. :pdt34:
