Hi Misty,

If you contact the library in the town where he is buried in, they may have newspaper articles on microfilm that will provide you some info. If he was from a small town, they will probably give him more printspace. When I was researching my family tree, the funeral home my great grandmother was buried out of was still in business (She died in 1915)They were able to provide me with the cause of death on the certificate, her maiden name and the cost of her funeral. I think it was under 25 bucks.....
