Received this letter from Billy Kent. Glad to hear your uncle is still alive. Would he be willing to share anything with us? Would love to hear more.

 

 

A short Bio on my Uncle. BTW He is still alive living in NC.

SERVED IN HAWAIIAN MILITARY POLICE COMPANY FROM 1940- 1941. WAS A SERGEANT FROM 1941-1942. STATIONED AT FORT ARMSTRONG IN HONOLULU, AWAITING THE ATTACK ON PEARL HARBOR. TRANSFERRED TO THE HAWAIIAN WAR PLANS AND SELECTED FOR OFFICERS CANDIDATE SCHOOL IN 1943. TRANSFERRED TO FORT BELVOIR, VIRGINIA FOR 6 WEEKS TRAINING AS A COMBAT ENGINEER OFFICER. TRANSFERRED TO ITALY IN 1943. ASSIGNED AS A LIEUTENANT; COMPANY A; 39TH COMBAT ENGINEERS REGIMENT. SERVED AT ANZIO BEACH, ITALY. WOUNDED IN 1944 LOSING RIGHT LEG AND PART OF LEFT FOOT. RETURNED TO NAPLES, ITALY. SERVED 1940-1947. RETIRED A CAPTAIN. AWARDED THE PURPLE HEART, 2 COMBAT RIBBONS FOR ITALY AND A COMBAT RIBBON FOR PEARL HARBOR, AMONG OTHERS.
