This is an interesting account of the talented musicians that became the 36th Engineers' band and then were "kidnapped" by General George S. Patton in Africa.

Wow, what a story and I've only begun to read it.

Reminds me of how General Patton stole the 540th Engineers' cook. Did you see the story in my documentary? It's a hoot!

I am so happy to receive things like this - I send them on to folks even before I get a chance to read them. It is wonderful!

Note: According to their history, the 36th Engineers (less 2nd Bn) sailed from Norfolk, Virginia, on 24 October 1942 for the landing at Fedala in French Morocco. The 2nd Battalion was in the British Isles and then landed near Algiers. The band apparently sailed later from Staten Island on 2 November as stated in the Band of Brothers, but not the regiment itself.

Ya, when you get a chance to view the documentary, all the details are there.
