Here's the letter Jim got from his nephew:

I got an interesting email this morning. As you might know, I visited my dad's POW camp in Germany in 2008. Dad was an Army medic and was captured during the battle of the bulge. He never spoke about his capture to me, but told my brother that the reason he became a teacher was that he promised God "if you get me out of this, I'll do something good with my life." After he died in 1971, we came upon his POW information. I did research a few years ago and made contact with the curator at the camp, and met with him in 2008. We have stayed in touch over the years. This morning, he emailed me and sent the drawings below that he found in a book of drawings done by an Italian POW. These drawings were done 67 years ago. This made my day!
