The following was sent to me by Tom Helvig. Thanks!

===========================

Special thanks to Gene Slover, La Mesa, Texas,

and to Welford Sims, Raleigh, North Carolina...

The footage on this film was captured at Civil War reunions held between 1913 and 1938.

YouTube - Civil war veteran soldier footage, captured between 1913 and 1938

At the end of the film, total casualty lists are given for each of our wars...

(June 1-3, 2011 will mark the commemoration of the Battle of Gettysburg - 148 years ago.)

The beginning of that film was from the Ken Burns "Civil War" series(If you havne't seen it do!!) The second part with the comparison of the wars was added later and I think that it was really well done.

The dedication of the Peace Light, which was the last reunion at Gettysburg, comprised most of that footage. President Roosevelt dedicated the monument and the Boy Scouts provided a lot of the services to the elderly soldiers....

Ah, yes, anyone who has seen the Civil War series will always recognize the footage. And how could I help but notice, for it featured two of my favorite Civil War historians, Barbara Fields and the late Shelby Foote!

Ahhhh Shelby Foote. I had the great fortune to have met him many years ago. What a great voice and a true Southern Gentleman.

Ah, hubby and I are very envious. What an honor.

I am posting this for Civil War Gal, and any other members who also studying The Civil War. There is site: http://www.militarywarehouse.com that is currently offering badges and other items from Civil War reunions in the 1890's. The owner of Military Warehouse is a great guy and also a very honest man to deal with. His items are always reasonably priced and lower than most other dealers.

Thanks. It's always nice when someone can vouch for someone else.
