My name is Al McCloud, SMSgt, USAF (Ret). My dad was in the 310th Engineers, 85th Infantry Division, 5th Army, from Sept 1942 - Sept 1945. He was a member of the Polar Bear Association.

ATTENTION! To all sons and daughters of those soldiers (living or deceased) who served during WWII with the following units of the Fifth Army, 85th Infantry Division:

339th Infantry Regiment

910th Field Artillery Battalion

Co. C, 310th Engineers

Co. C, 310th Medical Battalion

These men were known as the The Polar Bears. The final reunion of the Polar Bear Association of World War II was held in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania in September 2008 and it was decided that the Sons and Daughters of The Polar Bears of World War II would continue the tradition. Our first reunion was held Sept 9-12, 2010 in Gettysburg. It was decided that the next reunion would be held in September 2012 at Camp Shelby, MS, the site of our fathers training. We are encouraging all that qualify to be members of this organization, and all Polar Bear veterans to join us. To find out more about the Polar Bears, go to http://user.pa.net/~cjheiser/index.htm. To receive info on joining, please contact John Heiser, John Heiser; Bill Chiodo, Bill Chiodo or Al McCloud, Al McCloud. Veterans should give their info to one of the above if they plan on attending future reunions.
