2008 Sons of American Legion NY Mets

Color Guard/Outing Saturday Sept. 16th Shea Stadium, NYC

A last opportunity to present the Colors at Shea

Our fifth AMERICAN LEGION FAMILY outing at Shea Stadium will be Saturday after- noon September 6th as the NY Mets play the Philadelphia Phillies starting at 3:45 PM.

This year we plan to conduct a US Army “Freedom Team Salute†recognizing several veterans of the US Army. With over 1,700 members of the members currently deployed to Afghanistan and hundreds more serving in Iraq, we will recognize the efforts of the New York National Guard. The ceremony will include a color guard, presentation of a large Flag, and a video from the Guard members overseas. Through your assistance we will provide tickets to NY National Guard members and their families.

Last year we had over 300 Legion, Auxiliary, and SAL members, their family and friends attend the game as well as 75 guests from a Veterans Administration facility and four military bases. Pictures are available on
