During the course of researching the cemetery photograph I learned that Major General Maurice Rose, commander of the 3rd Armored Division, had been killed 30 March 1945 in the same general area south of Paderborn as PFC Jordan . General Rose was first buried in the same cemetery ten days before PFC Jordan. Here are some pictures of General Rose's funeral at Ittenbach on 2 April 1945.

In August 1945 the remains of General Rose were transferred to the Margraten Cemetery where he still rests today in Plot C, Row 1, Grave 1.

Thanks for the kind words.  Need to lighten the soldier's name a bit, but I think it is well on it's way.  Marion, everyone deserves her day in the sun so to speak.  :)

I just realized that one of the stamps was actually used as it has a Postmark on it.  Interesting...  :)

Got the poster from the print shop and have it all framed and ready to give to my dad for his birthday. It has turned out great, really pleased with it, will be ordering one for myself sometime. His birthday is on May 10th, can't hardly wait to present it to him, I know he will like it. Big thanks to our forum photo expert Gary for his fine work on this piece, you are a gentleman and a scholar my friend! This has really helped me out too. My dad is hard to buy for because he will never tell you what he wants, if you ask him he will just say, "I don't need anything". This will beat the boring gift card I usually have to settle on and it will be something more personal I know he will appreciate. So thanks again Gary, and thanks to Marion for providing the original image. Have a good day everyone!

Thanks, Randy!  I aim to please.  :)   Ponder this... what significance is there in the date on the cancellation stamp?

Thanks as always for the kind words, Randy.  It looks great and I am sure he will love it.  Maybe you can take a photo of him with it and post it when you give it to him?  Honesty compels me to say that with all that Marion does to empower and inform that she didn't actually provide the image.  She's still my forum hero, though!  :)

Aw, shucks!  Hope everyone had the chance, though, to read the history behind that poster. Fascinating!

It is a great story behind the poster Marion, enjoyed learning about it. And yes, you are the forum hero!
