    Hi! My name is Kim

The book on the 125th is downloadable here: http://digicom.bpl.lib.me.us/ww_reg_his/16/ Also, I hope to bring a website online about the 125th soon. Right now though all I have is the book as well as the 14th's history book so if anyone has anything they can share that would be great.

I've adopted the 14th AD and have brought many websites online about their individual units. I found a copy of this online via the military library: http://digicom.bpl.lib.me.us/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1016&context=ww_reg_his Download and enjoy. 285th Engineers

Just an FYI that I have brought http://285thcombatengineers.com on line! I'm waiting for some more information from some of the veterans of the unit but it does have some documents and photos. PS - It may take a day or so for DNS to get to everyone!

    Remagen-Ludendorf Bridge March 17, 1945

I just recently received a photo of the CP that was hit by the V-2 on 17 March 1945. It was a three story building and what you see is the building all collasped into the basement. You can see the smoke rising from the bomb just behind the house and in the upper left you can see the guys starting to search for those buried under the rubble. Unreal....
  8. I am in contact with two veterans of the 14th Armored Division. If anyone has any questions for them feel free to ask me and I'll inquire.

I don't know if any of your 39th folks might be interested in this: Original WW2 US Photographers ARGUS Camera Named to 39th Combat Engineer Soldier http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-WW2-US-Photographers-ARGUS-Camera-Named-to-39th-Combat-Engineer-Soldier-/251896883117?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3aa63967ad
  11. Oh my, there are some nice 245th photos on ebay but they're pricey. Maybe they'd take a reasonable offer? http://www.ebay.com/itm/WWII-Soldier-Personal-Photograph-Collection-Engineer-Combat-Battalion-/281666036996?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item41949aa504
  12. The 14th AD's website has been offline for a little bit. I "adopted" it and have brought it back online at a new URL (I couldn't get the old url). I hope that someone from their association will want to take it back over eventually. I brought it back online just as it was, I have not edited it in any way. Anyway, since there are many links to it in this thread I wanted to let you all know that it is now located at: http://14thad.org
  13. Hi, Does anyone know where this bridge was in the ETO?

    Remagen-Ludendorf Bridge March 17, 1945

Hopefully you all will find this an interesting addition to the March 17th discussion. There is a lot of speculation as to what brought the bridge down that day. 11 - V-2 rockets were fired at the bridge on March 17th and most weren't anywhere close to the bridge but there were two that hit fairly close. The 1st fell on the far side of the Rhine and did kill some soldiers that were billeted in a farmhouse. I'm afraid I don't know much about that strike but the 3rd strike of the day hit at 12:25 as B Company of the 284th Engr. B. Bn. was gathering for lunch. 3 soldiers were killed and 35 more injured. As you know the bridge came down shortly after. Those killed: LT Louis F. Saas Jr. Corporal George G. Gardner PFC James Spinos C Company Command, Captain Heubach, inspecting V-2 Turbo Pump that hit the C Company CP from the explosion at the B Company CP C Company Sgt. Lindhom and T/5 Bachand inspecting the combustion chamber. Official V-2 Report pg. 1 Official V-2 Report pg. 2

    Conversion of map coordinates

Brian, Thank you for the very detailed and well explained answer!! Amazing! I do know where they were (approximately) throughout all of their time in Europe. I'll devote some quality time to this over the weekend! Exciting stuff! Mikel

    284th and 291st

There has been some preliminary talk of combining the reunions of the 284th and the 291st! The first joint reunion will most likely be the summer of 2016 in the Boston area. More details coming as they become known! The reason for this early post is to put the offer out there in case any other Engineer Battalions want to join in! The groups are getting smaller so banding together could be beneficial to many of us.

    1260 Combat Engineer Battalion

I posted this in the other thread about the 1260th as well but I'm double posting just to be safe as I'd hate for someone to miss out on this as they seem to have been looking for it: HEY! The battalion history is up on ebay! I just saw it tonight, sounds like it is exactly what you're looking for. It has 9 days left of bidding: SCARCE WWII UNIT HISTORY BOOK - 1260TH ENGINEER COMBAT BATTALION ETO FRANCE http://www.ebay.com/itm/SCARCE-WWII-UNIT-HISTORY-BOOK-1260TH-ENGINEER-COMBAT-BATTALION-ETO-FRANCE-/381055034155?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item58b8a6632b

Boys From the 284th Oh, we’re the boys from the 284th We’re not so very neat, We very seldom comb our hair, We never wash our feet. We’re lower than the scum of the earth, And always digging for food, Oh, we’re the boys from the 284th, So, who in the hell are you?!
